Buemi tops for third straight day

He waited until the final moment, but Sebastien Buemi once again topped testing in Portugal Wednesday.

F1 Winter Testing in Portugal

Finally getting the chance to run in the dry, Buemi again was running a 2008-spec Toro Rosso. He was joined by a pair of Toyotas, Fernando Alonso in the Renault and, for the first time this season, Lewis Hamilton in the new McLaren.

  1. Sebastien Buemi, Toro Rosso, 1:27.987
  2. Nico Rosberg, Williams, 1:29.729
  3. Lewis Hamilton, McLaren, 1:30.242
  4. Timo Glock, Toyota, 1:30.878
  5. Fernando Alonso, Renault, 1:31.743

At Mugello, Felipe Massa took over for Kimi Raikkonen as the weather continued to hamper the test. Massa set a best time of 1:33.353. And in Valencia, Robert Kubica continued to run the new BMW Sauber. Buemi's times can't really be taken seriosuly. At the end, he is the only one still driving the 2008 car. Thanks to the weather probably also the times recorded by the 2009 beasts do not mean much at the moment.

But ... What probably should be noted is the impressive reliability Williams has been showing this early on ... Look at Nico Rosberg - 143 laps with no problems at all. I hope for Williams' sake that this is because they got the car right, not because they are not pushing the limits ...

Agreed. I'm interested in this flywheel KERS system. If it works, Williams may have found an inexpensive advantage that can be exploited It certainlyn seems a simpler technology from all of these batteries teams are trying.
