Now, it's official. Bourdais out

Toro Rosso have made it public, the team is splitting with four-time Champ Car champion Sebastien Bourdais.

F1 Grand Prix of Germany - Race

A brief message on the Toro Rosso Web site by Team principal Franz Tost confirmed the decision.

“In Sebastien’s second year with us, the partnership has not met our expectations and therefore we have decided to replace him as from the next round of the World Championship, the Hungarian Grand Prix.”

His expected replacement is young Spaniard Jaime Alguersuari, the reigning British F3 champion who took over as reserve driver earlier this month. If so, the Red Bull Young Driver Development programme product would be the youngest ever driver to start a race in F1 history.

Bourdais never seemed comfortable with the Faenza outfit, outperformed last season by wunderkind Sebastian Vettel and this season by rookie Sebastien Buemi. Like Alex Zanardi a decade ago, his removal will likely fuel the debate over the quality of drivers who rise through the U.S. system.
