Schumacher tests an F2007 at Mugello

Michael Schumacher has borrowed and F2007 an has been in action today at Mugello, AUTOSPORT reports.

According to his personal Web site, after a stop yesterday at Maranello to check the functionality of the steering wheel, the seven-time champion contacted F1 Clienti to borrow a car.

Schumacher is seeking to get as many miles as possible under his belt, despite the testing ban, even if that means driving old cars.

Meanwhile, Adam Cooper reports on SPEEDtv.com Ferrari has asked the teams for permission to give the German a full, one-day test in the F60.

A copy of the letter, from sporting director Massimo Rivolva, was sent to all team managers. Renault has reportedly agreed to the request. A copy of the letter appears on the SPEED site.

UPDATE: FOTA has approved the test.

Date set for Renault appeal

The FIA has set August 17 as the date for Renault's appeal of its European Grand Prix suspension, the Monday before the Valencia race. Should the appeal fail, Spain's second race of the season will run without native star Fernando Alonso.
