Brawn back in Valencia?

After several races on the ropes, it looks like Brawn might be back on the game as Rubens Barrichello topped the first practice session and was third behind teammate Jenson Button in the second in Valencia.

In the morning, Barrichello held off the McLarens of Heikki Kovalainen and Lewis Hamilton. Button was fourth, while the Red Bulls were led by Sebastian Vettel, fresh from signing a contract extension through 2012, in fifth.

F1 Grand Prix of Europe - Practice

In the afternoon, local hero Fernando Alonso was the leader ahead of the Brawn boys. The Williams duo, led by Nico Rosberg, were fourth and fifth. The Red Bulls found it harder going in the second session, Vettel leading the pair in ninth.

Sixth in both sessions was Adrian Sutil as the Force India continues to progress.

The newcomers, Romain Grosjean and Luca Badoer, had mixed results. Grosjean looks to be easily on the pace of the man he replaced, while Badoer found himself well down in the field as each becomes acclimated with their "new" environs.

As always, it was only practice, and a clearer picture will emerge tomorrow.
