Positive check up, but Massa a no-go for 2009

Ferrari has announced while Felipe Massa's checks are all positive, the Brazilian will not be returning to the cockpit for 2009.

F1 Grand Prix of Great Britain - Qualifying

Massa had an examination in Miami Monday, and while all signs point to yes for 2010, there will be no surprise return at Monza.

The team had been waiting for the outcome of the examination before announcing what it plans to do for the open seat for the remainder of the season, whether that be retaining the struggling Luca Badoer or making a move for someone else. It seems half the grid has been tied with the team in the past few days.

Massa expressed his pleasure with the positive check up on the team Web site.

“I'm very happy about the results. After the small surgery in the next days I can finally start to go to the gym to get back into shape and drive some tests in karts. On the track with a Formula 1 single-seater? Let's take it step by step; at the moment I'm concentrating on taking up physical activities, which is a great step forward.”
